Introducing the most popular Leather Wallets.
When it comes to leather wallets there are the usual suspects – tri-folds, bi-folds, and slims. As you might guess—these names are based on how many times they fold. Although there are still many manufacturers of the tried-and-true trifold, modern sensibilities and a trend toward lighter pockets have made the bifold and slims. We will walk through the most popular options for both.
Vertical Bifold Leather Wallets
Vertical wallets are on trend. You may feel like your cards and IDs are a little more secure as most of the card is in a sleeve. Sometimes these are a little harder to access due to the smaller amount of surface area that is showing. At Dark Forest, we have solved this by providing a convenient dip in the sleeve allowing you to have a greater purchase area to grab your card. You will have to fold your bills before you tuck them away—If you don’t travel with much cash and pay mostly digital any of the Rangeland series is perfect for you.
Horizontal Bifold Leather Wallets
These are a little more traditional. Another way to think of these is they open up sideways. Your cards are horizontal which allows you to see more of the card or ID you are looking for. These can also be a little easier to pull out as you get a little more surface area purchase on each card or ID. If they have a packet that goes the whole length you won’t have to fold your bills in without folding them first. Check out any of our Wrangler series for this style of leather wallet.
Slim Leather Wallets
Slim leather wallets typically don’t fold. As we continue to minimize how much we stuff into our wallets and therefore our pockets we are looking for something that can hold a small set of cards, an ID, and maybe some cash (if any). This is where the slim wallet comes in. Typically, these are vertical allowing for your cards and ID to stay tucked in securely until you want to pull them out. Just like the bifold leather wallets, these come in horizontal and vertical. Our Rustler V2 is horizontal with a larger pocket perfect for those who carry a bit more cash with them. If you are looking for a slim wallet that is mostly for 2-3 cards, and less cash, the Rustler V3 will be a better fit as it can also carry up to 3 cards and has a smaller pocket for folded cash.
Specialized Wallets
There is the Pioneer leather wallet—designed without any stitching. This is a wallet that is folded like an envelope. This beautiful wallet is like a piece of leather origami. Made to hold up to 6-8 cards.
We also have a wallet for those world travelers in mind. We call it the Maverick. Large enough to hold a passport, your ID, cash, and several cards. It securely snaps close to protect your traveling essentials.
